Genesis offers us a background to the rest of the Bible. This is where we begin to see God’s dealings with man and are introduced to creation, the origin of sin, its effect on humanity, and God’s plan to atone for that sin through a Son of the people of Israel. Genesis covers the most extensive period of time in all of Scripture, longer than the other books in the Bible combined, yet it goes to great length to chronicle the life of one man, Abraham.
